What does it take to connect my own FTP server to Fairu?

Accepted Answer

You paste host, port, user and password, choose the folder the files should land in, and save. Fairu opens the connection at that moment, so a typo in the password comes back as an error on the form instead of a sync that silently never runs. From then on it pulls new files by itself.

I do not have an FTP server. Can I still bulk upload?

Accepted Answer

Yes. One button on any folder creates an SFTP inbox on Fairu, with host, user and password generated for you — nothing to install or operate. Files you drop into its top level land in that folder and are cleared from the inbox once they have been imported; subfolders are not scanned.

How often does Fairu check my source for new files?

Accepted Answer

Every five minutes, and there is no cron job or agent to run on your side. If a run fails, the connection is marked unhealthy in the disk list right away, so a rotated password surfaces as a status instead of silence.

Will the same file be imported again on every scan?

Accepted Answer

No. Each file path is registered once per connection, so later scans skip what is already in your library. If you only want part of a directory, a pattern field filters by regular expression, and files starting with a dot stay out.

Question 5

Can I import a file by handing Fairu just the URL?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Send the URL and the target folder to the API, and Fairu fetches the file itself, reads the real type and extension from the content, and stores it. You never download and re-upload anything, and the response already carries the new file id.
