What happens to an image when its license expires?

By default nothing changes at delivery and the URL in your CMS keeps working. Switch on enforce licenses in the workspace settings and an asset without a valid license reports as blocked instead, and the proxy serves the fallback image you set for blocked assets.

How do I get warned before a license runs out?

You put one number into the workspace settings: how many days of warning you want. When a license end date is exactly that far off, the daily run emails the workspace owners once. A separate page in the sidebar lists what ends in the next seven days plus everything already expired.

Can a new license take over before the old one ends?

Yes. When you create the successor you tick replace, point it at the old license and pick the handover date. On that date a scheduled job moves every file across to the new license, so you never touch the assets yourself.

Do I have to attach a license to every file by hand?

Accepted Answer

No. Mark one license as the default for a copyright and keep it active and inside its start and end dates, and a job that runs every minute assigns it to every file carrying that copyright, new uploads included. You tag the copyright, Fairu does the rest.

Does Fairu delete assets once the license is over?

Accepted Answer

No. When a license ends the files stay exactly where they are; only their licensing status changes. Deleting assets after a license has run out is a separate workspace setting, and it stays off until you turn it on.
