Your show does not have to live on YouTube

Fairu holds the episodes, publishes the RSS feed Apple and Spotify read, and plays them in a player you style yourself. Nothing between your episode and your listener belongs to someone else.

What stays yours

Everything a platform keeps, you keep here

Uploading to somebody else's site is a trade: reach in exchange for control. These are the six pieces of it you do not have to give away.

01 / 06

The audience relationship

The feed lives at your address and the player runs on your own domain. When an episode ends, nothing beside it points at another show.

02 / 06

The distribution

One standard RSS feed. You hand the URL to Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music yourself, and it stays your URL.

03 / 06

The ad breaks

Pre-roll, mid-roll and post-roll come from your own VAST or VMAP tag. Your inventory, your ad server, your deal.

04 / 06

The files

An episode is an asset in your library like any other, carrying its copyright, its licence and its rights window with it.

05 / 06

The player

Your accent colour, no foreign logo in the corner. Chromecast, picture-in-picture and full keyboard control are already in it.

06 / 06

The numbers

Plays, seconds played and ads shown, counted per episode and per day, in the same workspace as the rest of your assets.

How it works

Everything a show needs, inside the library you already have

01 / 06

Channels, seasons, episodes

A channel holds seasons and episodes and is either video or audio, so a podcast and a video series are built the same way.

02 / 06

A feed the directories accept

Every channel publishes RSS at its own address, with the iTunes tags Apple and Spotify check on submission: category, owner, explicit flag, episode type and full show notes.

03 / 06

Bring your existing show

Point the importer at any RSS feed or a Podigee URL and the seasons, episodes, show notes and cover come across. It runs from the console and the GraphQL API.

04 / 06

Publish on a date, and stop on one

Every episode carries a publish and an unpublish time, so an embargoed release appears by itself and a licensed one comes down again without anybody watching the clock.

05 / 06

Chapters and show notes

Show notes pass a sanitiser before they reach the feed, and chapter marks are published as a Podcasting 2.0 chapters file that podcast apps read.

06 / 06

Cover art Apple will take

Apple accepts JPEG and PNG only. Fairu links the original in one of those formats and leaves the tag out rather than sending a cover that fails review.

The player

On your page, or in somebody else's article

The same React player Fairu uses for its own file previews, published as @fairu/player. Embed the channel, or build the playback into your app.

01 / 03

Playback that adapts

A direct MP4, or adaptive HLS once the HLS add-on is booked. Both are delivered through the Fairu proxy and its CDN.

02 / 03

Ad breaks that report back

VAST and VMAP breaks before, during and after the episode, with viewability tracking and the TCF, US Privacy and GPP consent signals forwarded to your ad server.

03 / 03

Made to look like yours

One accent colour recolours the whole player. Chromecast, picture-in-picture, markers and keyboard control come with it.
