What is the difference between a DAM and a shared cloud drive?

A drive stores bytes, a DAM stores what you know about them. In Fairu a file keeps its folder, its tags, the copyright holder behind it and the license period all on the file, plus one delivery URL your site and your CMS point at instead of a copy each.

Do I have to store a separate file for every image size?

No. You keep one original and ask for the rest in the URL: width, height, quality and a focal point are parameters, and the GraphQL url field returns the finished address to drop into your template. Ask a video for a size and a WebP still frame comes back.

Can a DAM stop an image from being used when its license ends?

Only once you turn on the license requirement in the workspace settings; a new workspace has it off, so an expired license blocks nothing on its own. With it on, a file whose license period does not cover today counts as blocked. Blocking a copyright holder blocks every file linked to them either way.

Will Fairu write descriptions and tags for my images by itself?

Not unless you switch it on. AI is off in a new workspace, with separate switches for description, tags, EXIF and copyright splitting on upload. Search does not wait for it: name, description and caption are indexed as you type them, and a typo still finds the file.

What are the limits of the free trial, and do I need a card?

No card is asked for. The trial ends when the trial period runs out, or at 100 files, 5 disks, 0.5 GiB of delivered traffic or 5,000 AI tokens, whichever comes first. Creating the workspace starts it, with a disk and an Admin and a User role already in place.
